Structure of manuscripts:

Arrange the manuscript in the following sequence:

First page: Title, Author(s), Affiliations, Abstract, Keywords

Text pages: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion or Systematic, Acknowledgements, References

Captions: Tables captions, Figures captions.

All manuscripts must be in English. The standard of English must be high. Non-native English speaking authors are encouraged to have their manuscript read by a native English speaker before submission. ACARINES editors have the right to decline the submission if they feel that the level of English is not sufficient.

Manuscripts should be typed using a common font Times New Roman, double-spaced throughout. Use as little formatting as possible (use only bold and italics where necessary and indentions of paragraphs except the first). Underlining is not accepted. Pages must be numbered. All titles, subtitles and headers, and personal names must be in lower case. Please do not use direct formatting for the headers. Do not 'full width' justify your document, instead justify all text to the left-hand margin.

The title should be concise and informative. The higher taxa containing the taxa dealt with in the paper should be indicated in parentheses: e.g., A taxonomic revision of the genus Blattisocius (Mesostigmata: Blattisociidae). Running title (

All the authors' names of the paper must be given and should be typed in the full form (e.g., Mohamed A. Zaher & Ali Rasmy). The address of each author should be given in italics each starting a separate line. E-mail address(es) and ORCiDs (https://orcid.org/) should be provided if available (An ORCiD is a digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher. It ensures you and your research activities can be easily identified, meaning you get the credit for all the work you do. It’s free and takes just 30 seconds to do).

The abstract should be concise and informative, generally not exceeding 250 words. Any new names or new combinations proposed in the paper should be mentioned.

Keywords should be separated by semicolons. Up to 6 keywords should be provided. There is no need to repeat in the keywords of the words already mentioned in the title.

The text is followed by tables and or figures, all of which must be numbered consecutively. Tables and figures must be cited in the text as (Figure 1) (Figures 2 and 3) (Figures 1–3), (Table 1), (Tables 2 and 3) (Tables 1–3). Footnotes are not allowed, but framed text emphasizing particular points or additions can be considered.

Legends of illustrations should be listed after the list of references. Small illustrations should be grouped into plates. For species illustration, line drawings are preferred, although good quality black and white or color photographs are also acceptable. Illustrations should have the author(s') name(s) and the figure numbers. All figures (including photographs and maps) must be labeled in successive order, using Arabic numerals.

When preparing the illustrations, authors should keep in mind that the required final resolution is 300 dpi (dots per inch) for colored images (RGB) (Red Green Blue) mode, 600 dpi for black and white images and 600–1200 dpi for line art (bitmap). All figures must be in TIFF format with LZW compression or with high quality and must have at least a 600 dpi resolution. Taxonomical illustrations are of first importance, authors must pay attention to the quality of their artwork, inadequate artwork will not be accepted. Magnifications should be indicated by scale bars on figures.

Tables should be given at the end of the manuscript. Please use the table function in your word processor to build tables so that the cells, rows and columns can remain aligned when font size and width of the table are changed. Please do not use Tab key or space bar to type tables. Use size 10. Use only top, column title and bottom lines as table borders. Be economical with tables: data given in graphs should not be repeated in tabular form. Also, it must be sent the graphs in a separate Excel Sheet.

Special symbols (e.g., male or female signs) should be avoided because they are likely to be altered when files are read for typeset.

Metric (SI) units should be used throughout. The number of decimal points must be consistent and significant (e.g., 75–79 μm, not 74.57–79.3 μm). Dates should be in the form January 01, 2021.

On the use of dashes

1. Hyphens are used to link between words (e.g., r2-r5).

2. En-dash is used to link between two numbers, dates and page numbers (e.g., 1975–1979; Figures 1–3).

References

All publications cited in the text must be listed in the reference section. Papers 'in press' can only be cited if they have been accepted for publication; do not cite manuscripts 'in preparation' or 'submitted'. Citations of authorities for taxon names should use “&” instead of “and”.

Citations should be set-up in the text in the format: Zaher (1986) or (Zaher 1986), Zaher and Shehata (1971) or (Zaher and Shehata 1971); Zaher et al. (2001) or (Zaher et al. 2001). Works of different authors should be separated with semicolons and the various works of the same author with comma. Papers not cited must not be listed in the references.

The names of all authors should be given and the titles of the journals should be in full and not abbreviated. The references are arranged in alphabetical order in the following format:

Submission:

Manuscripts must be submitted using the online submission system:  https://ajesa.journals.ekb.eg/

For manuscripts with numerous illustrations, which might be saved as separate TIFF or JPG files, for the purpose of review, it will be easier and more efficient for the editors and reviewers to have the figures converted into one larger PDF (Portable Document Format) file.

Authors of accepted papers must submit final manuscripts in two types of files: RTF or MS Word for text and tables, TIFF for line art drawings (600–1200 dpi), and photographs (300–600 dpi). Vector files (charts, maps, etc.) are best submitted as EMF.

All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed before acceptance. Rejected papers may be re-submitted once if invited by the editors.

When you submit your article, your cover letter (See Cover Letter Template) opportunity to highlight to the journal’s editors why they should consider publishing your research.

Publications fees:

Contributed papers of the society members will be published at their own expense. A publication fee of 650 L.E. for Egyptians or $100 for non-Egyptians to be paid for each paper, at its submission to the society.

Colored plates charge:
