Incidence of Spiders in Parks at Cairo and Giza Governorates, Egypt

Abstract

Twenty one families of spiders were recorded by using plant shaking and hand so1ting collecting methods at lour parks (Zohreia & Horreya), Cairo governorate and (Orman  & Zoo), Giza governorate Egypt. This study was conducted on five ornamental plants for each park. Thirty one genera and twenty four identified species were obtained. Zohreia and Orman Park were the most harbored spiders. The most dominant families recorded and represented with the largest number of species were Salticidae, Gnaphosidae, Theridiidae and Oonopidae. Few species belonged to Araneidae, Dictynidae, Eutichuridae,  Hersiliikae,  Linyphiidae,  Lycosidae,  Oecobiidae,  Philodromidae,  Pholcidae, Scytodidae, Synaphridac, Thomisidae, and Uloboridae. Otherwise, two families were identified to the family level only, Mimetidae and Oxyopidae.
